This week provides us with a close to Black History month and a warm welcome to Women’s History month. As we make this transition, I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who took time to “grow” our students around their knowledge of contributions made by African-Americans.

Come support the 8th graders in our last fundraiser of the year THIS Thursday, March 2nd from 3-9pm at the 1830 W. Fullerton Ave location. 20% of your sales will help us ALL get to Washington D.C. this spring.

Last week, classrooms matched up to read and do activities together. Catch a glimpse! Book Buddies will happen at least once a month and be connected to our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) themes.

As we enter the last full week of February, I am excited to see how staff and students have embraced Black History month.  It’s been a treat to see the great things learned and shared by everyone.  Before the month comes to a close, there are a number of events happening to celebrate the accomplishments made by African-Americans.

In celebration of Black History Month, families are invited to come taste a variety of soul foods on Thursday, February 23rd from 10:15am-12:00pm in the school gym. This event will be for parents, guardians, and staff only (no students). Thank you to Sundayz Soul Diner for catering!

Friends of Jahn would like to express our most sincere gratitude to everyone who came out to the Inaugural Winter Wonderland on Saturday, February 11th. The event brought more than 400 people to the school and over $5,800 from the community in 4 hours. It was amazing to see our hallways transformed and so many Jahn families and friends making memories together.
