Dear Jahn Families,

Thank you to our amazing school community for all of your support. We appreciate your partnership and collaboration!

Preschool registration will open on April 19th through Chicago Early Learning. Audubon Elementary School is opening up a new early childhood center, and they are hosting an informational meeting on March 25th at 5pm via Zoom.

CPS is still looking to hire a crossing guard for the intersection of Belmont and Wolcott. See this flyer for details and how to apply.

Jahn continues to offer free COVID19 testing to students and staff on a weekly basis. Our regular testing day is Tuesday, unless there is a schedule change. Thank you to Mrs. Rendleman for leading the efforts to increase our vaccination and testing percentages at school. Please welcome Coach Crystal as our new recess coordinator! With the weather warming up, she has put together an Amazon wish list for some fun new recess equipment. We appreciate any donations our community is able to provide!

Did you know Jahn has a book room? We do! It’s located on the second floor in Room 205 and is run by our Reading Specialist, Ms. Sarah Chambers.

Dear Jahn Families,

The State of Illinois requires students in grades 5 and 8 to take the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) each spring. This assessment measures progress towards the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Mrs. Rendleman and Mr. Herring are the testing coordinators for ISA, and will communicate the testing schedule soon.

Friends of Jahn would like to express our most sincere gratitude to everyone who supported our Online Auction that closed out Bingo and Bidding Week last Friday. Because of your generosity, we were able to raise just over $9,000 for Jahn! The winners have been contacted to coordinate pick up.

Our thoughts are with the Ukrainians at this time.  We stand for peace.




Starting on Monday, March 7th, we will begin using a new visitor management system to enhance the security at our school.  All visitors must check in with Ms. D at the security desk and have a photo ID ready to show and scan.

Join us for a shopping night at local boutique Love, Charlie. They are generously donating 20% of sales all day back to Jahn with complimentary wine and small bites from 5-8pm. They have clothing, home goods and more. Shop local and support Jahn all day!

We had a blast with everyone on Family Bingo Night last Thursday! Congratulations to our lucky door prize and bingo winners. Ms. Margo will be delivering the gift cards today. Thank you to our amazing bingo callers Ms. Margo, Ms. Chambers, Ms. Rodkey, Ms. Walsh, and Mr. Orrico and any other teachers and staff that came to participate and play! It made the night extra special and fun. Finally, thank you to Ms. Lynch and the Jahn Arts Council for putting together the intermission slideshow of student artwork. We have some talented kids!

Thank you to Mrs. Moon-Sarudi for organizing the vaccination event at Jahn on Thursday, February 25th. We were able to vaccinate many of our students! Mrs. Rendleman has been assigned as our vaccination captain at Jahn. She will work with families to help find vaccination sites, and answer any questions. If you would like support with getting vaccinated, reach out to Mrs. Rendleman at [email protected]. Also, as a reminder, once your child is fully vaccinated, please bring the vaccination card to the main office for our records or email a copy to Margo at [email protected].
