Erin A. Lynch

Ms. Lynch is the visual arts teacher at Jahn School of Fine Arts.  Her teaching practices emphasizes anti-racist, interdisciplinary and inquiry based learning that encourages student responsibility, global awareness and student interest.  Her instruction is driven by clear and understandable expectations, which allows students to express themselves freely in an emotionally and physically safe environment. She is also passionate about incorporating eco-conscious practices and learning into our all aspects of our classroom environment.    

Ms. Lynch was awarded the  Middle School Art Educator of the year in 2020 by the Illinois Art Education Association.  She attended Arizona State University where she pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in art education with a minor in art history.  Her study of education continued at Columbia College Chicago where she earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in interdisciplinary art education.  She received her Learning Behavior Specialist I endorsement and International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) certifications in both Design and Arts.  Ms. Lynch has worked as a teacher in CPS since 2008.  Prior to joining the Jahn faculty she served the Bronzeville community teaching visual arts, special education, MYP arts and design.

She enjoys getting inspiration for her own art making and teaching by visiting art galleries, museums and traveling.  She loves the outdoors and participating in running, yoga and snowboarding. In her free time like to read, cheer on the Cubs (life-long fan) and tend to her indoor plants and outdoor garden.  Cooking with the vegetables and herbs from her garden is one of her favorite activities.
