Greetings Husky Families
As we enter the final week of school before our Spring Break, we would like to take a moment to thank you for a great three quarters of learning. By the end of this week, we will officially begin our Spring Break and our third quarter will be complete (Report Card Pick-Up is on Tuesday, April 1st - details below).
Many thanks to those of you who were able to attend our Spring Showcase. It’s clear that students have a true appreciation for the arts and self-expression. Our Fine Arts and Wellness team did a great job. Kudos Ms. Esquivel, Ms. Lynch and everyone who assisted. Our students rock!!!!!
There are a number of upcoming events happening on campus. Please assist us in bringing them to life:
Student Council Spirit Week - March 17 - 21: Please support our Student Council with their Spirit Week. Each day has the following theme:
- Monday: March Madness Monday - Dress in your favorite sports team gear
- Tuesday: Classroom Color Day: (classrooms choose a color that they’ll wear)
- Wednesday: Be A Tourist Day - Dress Like a tourist
- Thursday: Craft Day with your Book Buddies
- Friday: Pajama Day
IAR Testing: IAR testing (for 3rd through 8th graders) begins this week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday) and will continue after Spring Break. Please make sure that your child(ren) gets a good night's rest.
Spring Break: Our Spring Break runs from March 24th through March 28th. Monday, March 31st is a professional learning day for staff and Tuesday, April 1st is Report Card Pick-Up (RCPU). Both days are non-attendance for students. We encourage you to bring your child to RCPU. Our students officially return to school on Wednesday, April 2nd.
Report Card Pick-Up (RCPU)/Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTC) - Tuesday, April 1st: Our RCPU happens right after Spring Break. Being that our RCPUis right after Spring Break, it will be during regular school hours. Parent-teacher conferences will be from 9 am to 12 pm and then 12:45 to 3 pm. Be on the lookout for invites from your child’s classroom teachers.
Family STEAM Night: Mark your calendars. Tuesday, April 8th is our Family STEAM night from 4 to 6 pm. Please join us for this fun-filled night that will provide you with an opportunity to visit classrooms across the school. Additional details are forthcoming.
School Food Survey: Please take a moment to complete the annual CPS School Food Survey by Friday, March 21st. This survey uses their feedback to improve school meals next school year and beyond. The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete and must be filled out in one sitting. The CPS Department of Nutrition Support Services will award a special prize to the elementary school and high school with the most survey responses. Nominations Now Open for Crossing Guard of the Year Award: CPS is currently encouraging school communities to nominate their favorite crossing guards for the District's Crossing Guard of the Year Award using this form. Students, staff, school leaders, parents, and other community members are all welcome to submit a nomination for a crossing guard who has made a difference in their lives. The form will be open until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14th, and the winners will be determined and acknowledged on Monday, May 19th and announced during the Crossing Guard Rally.
