Principal Message - March 3rd

Greetings Husky Families

Many thanks for all that you do to continue to make Jahn a great place.  Through collaborative efforts and hard work our school will continue to be that place.

Welcome to March!!!!  As we welcome this month, there are a number of things we are embracing.

First off, the first week of this month is National Social Worker Week.  Please assist us in making this week a great week for our social worker, Ms. Langellier.

Second, during the month of March, we acknowledge Women’s History Month.  During this month, as well as throughout the year, we want to take time to acknowledge the many contributions women have made to our society.

Finally, with a new month brings a new SEL theme.  The SEL theme for this month is Creating Solutions/Problem Solving.  Creating Solutions/Problem Solving is the process by which we strive to create win-win situations and develop constructive solutions to problems.   To assist you in bringing this theme to life, here are a few grade band texts:

Pre-K through 2nd grades:

  • Separate is Never Equal - Duncan Tonatiuh
  • Someday Is Now - Clara Luper
  • Whistle for Willie - Ezra Jack Keats

3rd through 5th grades:

  • Raymie Nightingale - Kate DiCamillo
  • One Crazy Summer - Rita Williams Garcia
  • As Brave As You - Jason Reynolds

6th through 8th grades:

  • On the Move Up - Angie Thomas
  • Dear Martin - Nic Stone
  • Clap When You Land - Elizabeth Alvardo

There are a number of events happening on campus during the month of Month.  Please review our monthly calendar that will be sent home this week or our website for details.

Have an amazing week.
