Greetings Husky Community
As we conclude the month of May and welcome the month of June, I am excited on how we continue to grow as a school. The growth I am speaking about centers around how we support each and every student who walks through our doors. I am a firm believer that each and every student comes to us with their own unique abilities. Our job is to meet them where they are and provide them with the necessary support to succeed. I look forward to our continuous efforts to support our students.
Social Emotional Learning is something that is near and dear to my heart. Not only am I excited how we intentionally provide support through classroom activities, I also take pride in how we affirm each theme through our monthly celebrations. Let’s conclude the month of May with our theme of Self-Confidence and welcome our June theme of SEL-abration. It’s been exciting to see how this month’s theme has come to life across the school. With regards to June’s theme, SEL-abration, please check out our last days of school for the many celebrations happening on our campus.
SEL-abrations for the month of June kick off with two events this week. On Friday, June 2nd our 8th grade graduation starts at 10 am. This class, being my first class of graduates at Jahn, is a group full of hopes and dreams. This year’s class will attend a host of high schools across the district. When time permits, check out the banner hanging near the corner of Belmont and Wolcott highlighting their high school selections. Later that afternoon, our Jahn Pride Alliance (JPA) will host their celebration to kick off Pride month from 3 to 5 pm. Please join us as we celebrate inclusion and allyship of all people! There will be yard games, a photo booth, karaoke, a community project, face painting, and so much more.
Before the school year concludes, there are a number of additional SEL-abrations happening. Please check out our calendar of events for further information.
Have an amazing week!
Derrick

New Comer Drive: A school in our network, Von Linne, is registering over 30 migrant children in K-7th grade. They will also welcome 19 Pre-K children.
Please see this flier, carl von linne.pdf, about opportunities to give donations, which we can collect at Jahn and then, will be picked up by our network staff on Thursday, June 1st by noon. Drop off donations in the main office.
Kiss and Go: Please assist us with before and after school traffic. We encourage you to drop your child(ren) off and go.
