Greetings Husky Families
Before you know it, the month of November will be a thought in our past. As we move into the final week before the Thanksgiving break, I would love to put two things into the atmosphere. First, I would like to extend a belated happy Veterans Day to all those who have served. Thank you for your service. Second, I would like to share with you how thankful I am to be a part of the family at 3149. It truly is a pleasure being here and I appreciate you greatly. Thank you!!!
I would also like to share with you a change made to our report card pick up times. Parent-teacher conferences will still be held next Monday, November 21st. The time will be adjusted to reflect our school day. Conferences will be from 9 am to noon and 12:45 to 3. My apologies for the time adjustment. The conferences can be in person or virtually. Teachers will/have sent out conference sign-up information. We look forward to seeing you.
It was great to see some of you last Thursday for my first Koffee With Kimbrough. Parents who attended had the opportunity to gain a better understanding of i-Ready and Star360. As a school, we were able to gain some ideas to assist you in supporting your children at home around the assessment. For those who were not able to attend, the slide deck can be found here: Koffee With Kimbrough Slide deck. Within the slides are links for all of the handouts. Next month’s session will be on December 8th at 8:30 am. Stay tuned for the topic of discussion. I hope to see you there.
Continue to embed this month’s SEL theme, Empathy, into your way of life at home. My read-aloud for last Thursday’s meeting, Be Kind by Pat Zietlow Miller, is an excellent book to build on this theme.
Please take a moment to check out our announcements and upcoming events:
State of the School Address: I will give our state of the school address on Monday, November 21st at 8 am. Please use the following information to connect virtually or dial in. The presentation will be recorded and made available.

School Tours: School tours are held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month at 8:30 am for prospective families. Interested individuals can drop by the school for a quick tour of the school.
Inclement Weather: Unless there are harsh weather conditions (below 45 degrees, rain or snow), students will remain outside during the morning. As always, staff members will be outside to support student arrival. When the weather conditions are bad, students will enter the building at 7:45 am and remain in the auditorium with their classroom until 8 am. With the change of weather, we encourage students to dress accordingly.
ABAR Workgroup: Our Anti-Bias/Anti-Racist (ABAR) workgroup is looking for parent members. Our workgroup is currently developing a scope and sequence and a calendar of events that are culturally relevant and represent our diverse school community. Please reach out to the school to learn more or to express your interest.
School Fees: Our Local School Council approved student fees for this year of $75 per student (with a maximum of three students per family). School fees will be used to cover supplies, books, and SEL activities. Students in Pre-K are not required to pay fees, but can donate an amount, if they choose.
